Convexes offer surprisingly low-cost construction for clear
spans up to 61 meters (200 ft.). In this system, convex
panels are load-carrying members that form a finished roof
and ceiling. A lightweight strut system separating the roof and
ceiling panels provides partial load stability. Savings are
realized by arching the roof chord, so that separation between
the chords is greatest in the centre of the span, thus reducing
the panel gauge.
Electrical lines can be hidden in the attic area, providing clean, clear
surfaces for maximum appeal.
Insulating the attic is simple with the use of blown-in
materials. We can insulate to R-60 making the convex an
extremely energy efficient building.
